4.1 Understand of robot end effectors



4.1.1 Describe the robot end effectors



       The end effector is the robot’s hand (gripper), or the end-of-arm tooling on the robot. 

       In robotics, an end effector is the device at the end of a robotic arm, designed to interact with the environment. The exact nature of this device depends on the application of the robot.

       In the strict definition, which originates from serial robotic manipulators, the end effector means the last link (or end) of the robot. At this endpoint the tools are attached. 

       In a wider sense, an end effector can be seen as the part of a robot that interacts with the work environment

       End effectors may consist of a gripper or a tool

       The end effectors that can be used as tools serves various purposes. Such as, Spot welding in an assembly, spray painting where uniformity of painting is necessary and for other purposes where the working conditions are dangerous for human beings. Surgical robots have end effectors that are specifically manufactured for performing surgeries.

a. Mechanical Grippers

       Purpose: to grip, hold and move the object to another location.
       Principle: use at least two fingers with a few extensions.
       It works much like the human finger.
       Have a lot of joints to ensure a comprehensive touch for the workpiece to be lifted.

      Jawapan : Penggengam mekanikal (mechanical gripper) bergantung pada jenis kerja yang di lakukan.
      Jenis kerja yang di lakukan hendaklah bersesuaian dgn end efffector yg di pilih.
      Seperti contoh flexible pneumatic device tidak sesuai di gunakan untuk mengangkat objek yang berat kerana mereka hanya menggengam objek yang tidak mempunyai permukaan yang rata.
      Selain daripada faktor jenis kerja.Jenis material yg di genggam jugak di ambil kira.

    - Sometimes referred to as the robot's "hand."

    - Usually, end effectors must be custom engineered for the particular task which is to be performed.

    - Most robot manufacturers have special engineering groups whose function is to designend effectors and to provide consultation services to their customers.

    Two types of end effector

    -Gripper (used to grasp and hold object)
    -Tool ( tool-type end effector is attached to the robot’s wrist )
